About Veronika Alter
Veronika Alter is a New York based cellist, teacher and researcher, and founding member of piano quartet Sunü. As a Polish-American artist, she is passionate about advancing the music of hyphenated Americans through performance and community outreach. While she loves learning and performing classical music, Ms. Alter also is very committed to promoting contemporary and folk music. Her current projects include arranging Polish folk songs for voice and cello, and loves the sense of discovery she can share through this work. In each and every performance, Veronika hopes to create space for community and conversation between audience, musicians and composers.
A graduate of San Diego State University and The New School, Veronika has had the honor of studying with principal cellist of the San Diego Symphony, Yao Zhao, soloist Matt Haimovitz, and Joel Noyes of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. She has participated in masterclasses with world renowned chamber groups such as the Kronos, Brooklyn Rider and Formosa Quartets, and performed as principal cellist with the Mannes Orchestra in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center and City Center, at San Diego’s Jacob’s Music Center and City Center.
